SAL

R. Minas Gerais, 350 - Consolação / Higienópolis  (11) 3151-3085
www.salgastronomia.com.br
We felt IN LOVE for this place!
The cheff Henrique Fogaça is on the world´s top 100 list, but his restaurant is far from being coky!!

GREAT food, excellent music, nice waiters, cozy ... useless to say we´ll become frequent clients!
It reminded me a lot of Cafe San Juan, in Buenos Aires, with rock & roll cooks and international cuisine!

TIP? Sit on the balcony!

Bagatelle

Rua Padre João Manuel, 950, Jardins - (11) 3062 5870
www.bistrotbagatelle.com

I felt IN LOVE with this place!!!
It had been a while since last time I was so pleased and excited about a meal!
We had a sunday lunch there.
From our Mexican waiter Mariana, to the the appetizer, main dish and dessert I have no complains or observations what so ever!!
Everything was sttuning delicious!!!!
It´s now on my top 10 in town!!
I was told that at night it becomes a cool lounge.

Oh! And just for the fun of it, Ronaldo (the soccer player) was on the table next to us! =P

America

Av Paulista, 2295 - (11) 3067 4424
http://www.restauranteamerica.com.br

It´s a fast food chain, and there are lot´s of them around the city, the website has all the addresses.

Hamburger, salads, fries... pretty much what most fast food places have to offer.

They do have a nice menu, and have delivery services all around town.
Good option for "dont wanna try anything new" type of day.

Maremonti

Rua Padre João Manuel, 1160 - (11) 3085 1160
http://www.maremonti.com.br

Next to Av. Paulista and Oscar Freire, this was a good surprise to me.
São Paulo is famous for its pizza places, but I´m not a big pizza fan.
This place has pizza, salads, pasta, risotto and appetizers.
Pleasant, cozy, and great service!
We loved the food!! No complains what so ever!

Astor

Rua Delfina, 163 - (11) 3815-1364
http://barastor.com.br

Same address but totally different from SubAstor, this is what runs upstairs!
A bohemian bar, that serves nice appetizers and cold beer!
It´s always full and it´s really a Happy Hour hit in Vila Madalena!!
Waiters are nice and the beer is rapidly replaced, but food service wasn´t as fast...
Liked and recomend!

Sub Astor

Rua Delfina, 163 - Vila Madalena (11) 3815 1364
www.subastor.com.br/
When you think underground, what´s the first thing that  comes to your mind?
It should be Subastor!
Well... it´s underground if you think as an alternative place... most people are well dressed and drinks are their special hit!
You get in Astor, and go downstairs for a total different environment!!
When we went there, we bought a bottle of something and they made sure to surprise us with different drinks every time we asked for new ones!! =)

Nello´s

Rua Guaipá, 880 - Vila Leopoldina - (11) 4304 2666
http://www.nellos.com.br

Important to say: I´m not a big fan of Italian food, so I don´t go to them too often. But whenever I like the food, I love to recommend!

I live downtown, but work at Vila Lepoldina, where finding good food is always a good surprise!!
And we did!!!

Nello´s is a small restaurant with home made pasta, pleasant waiters, really good price and well served!
Tip for the girls: 1 pasta plate serves 2!

I had a really good 4 cheese Gnocchi.
We´ll go back for sure!

Você Vai Se Quiser

R. João Guimarães Rosa, 241 - (11) 3129-4550

This is far far away from being a touristic place.
Not fancy AT ALL!!

The only expectation you can have is to listen to good samba!! And this, they do really well!!

Feijoada and national beer are good choices!

Cheap, local and good music!!

Tip? Arrive early or there´ll be no tables! We got there at 2/3pm and didn't leave before 11pm.

Bier Boxx

Rua Fradique Coutinho, 842 (11) 3805-0151
http://www.barbierboxx.com.br/

Not a fancy place!
This is probably the best way to start the description.

They have beer, and good ones!!
The owners do know about beer and have always given us good tips.

Informal, inside a house at Vila Madalena, public mainly university students.

Fifities

Alameda Santos, 1013 - (11) 3266-4278
http://www.thefifties.com.br/

I´m not a big fan of fast food. But this place is a cute spot in town.
If you do like fast food, stop by.

From decoration to waiter´s outfit everything reminds us of the 50´s.

Santo Grão

Rua Oscar Freire, 413 - (11) 3082-9969
http://www.santograo.com.br/

This place has, in my opinion, the best bruschetta in town!!
Their menu changes every once in a while and the appetizers are always my favorites!!
We always try to order 2 or 3 different ones and try them all, of course 1 of the option is always the bruschetta.
There are more than one cafe´s in town, check what´s the closest one.
Drinks´ menu is as good as the coffee one!!

MASP

Av. Paulista, 1578 - (11) 3251.5644
http://masp.art.br

Not many people know, but underneath MASP (Art Museum of São Paulo) there´s a restaurant.
It´s a buffet, eat all you want style - from food to dessert - drinks apart.
The food is good, but the location is what counts the most.
Right on Avenida Paulista, inside one of the biggest museums in town.
It´s not a must do, but a nice option for who is around.

A Peixaria

Rua Canário, 745 - Moema - (11) 5051 0575

I read only good things about this restaurant, but our experience wasn´t so good.
Food took too long to arrive, wasn´t as much as we thought and was a bit pricey.

Even though we had these issues, it was so tasty that I decided to put it up, so that if you decide to go, let me know how much you liked it!!
The taste was awesome!!! Too bad it wasn´t as much as we expected. Maybe because it was a big table... but a little advice wouldn´t hurt.

Fresh fish, with a fish market up front and tables on the back, so that you can choose and order. =)

Restaurante Tandoor

Rua Dr. Rafael de Barros, 408 - Paraíso - (11) 3885 9470
http://www.tandoor.com.br/

The best Indian in town, for sure!!
The owners are from Mumbai.
Food is delicious!! 1 dish serves two people - good tip is to ask for side dishes like rice or bread (wish are also really good (we asked both!)
Waiters are very helpful, the music on is Indian and we felt totally disconnected from São Paulo.

Cafe Girondino

Rua Boa Vista, 345 - Sé - (11) 3229-2256
http://www.cafegirondino.com.br/

If you decide to go downtown on a subway, this is just in front of São Bento.
It´s next to 25 de Março, Mercado Municipal, Bovespa Stock Market and Salve Jorge.

It recalls the old São Paulo days, when downtown was a hit! It´s beautiful and deserves a stop, even if it´s only for a cup of coffee! But they do serve lunch as well.

Braz Pizzaria

Rua Grauna, 125 - Moema - (11) 5561 0905
http://www.brazpizzaria.com.br/

I´m not a pizza person, but i really liked the ones I ate here!!
The waiters were nice, pizza didn´t take too long and tasted REALLY good!
I can say I´m not a big pizza fan, but when it comes to pizza, Braz nails it!
There are 3 units in Sao Paulo, check the website to see the closest one.

Aoyama

Praça Vila Boim, 63 - Higienopolis - (11) 3666 2087

I LOVE Japanese food, but I know that not everybody likes it as much as I do.
This is why this restaurant is a good call, they serve other things other than just a typical, and everything tastes really good!! And I really liked that they bring food in small amounts, so you taste everything fresh!
It´s been elected the best Japanese in São Paulo, so it gotta be for a reason.
There are other units, so the website might be helpful.

Banana Verde

Rua Harmonia, 278 - Pinheiros  - (11) 3814-4828
http://www.bananaverde.com.br/

I went there for a sunday lunch and just loved it!

We had the buffet option, and did not regret. artichoke lasagna was amazing! Actually everything tasted good!

If you dont need an everyday meet menu, this is a good option!

Vila Madalena is a super cute area, walk around and sit somewhere for a beer afterwards.

Casa Tavares

Rua da Consolação, 3212 - Jardins - (11)
http://casatavares.com

Heard that they serve from breakfast to dinner, but I  only had lunch!

A really good duck rice, with a nice Brazilian non filtered beer. Picadinho is also a good call!!

The place is cute, quite big, and with a little bazar at the end.

The area is really nice, a walk after lunch could be a good call!

The Butcher´s Market

R. Bandeira Paulista, 164, Itaim Bibi - (11) 2367-1043
http://butchersmarket.com.br/

I´m not a big fast food person and just loved this place!! Even their corn is good! And i´m not kidding (w/ parmesan and paprica).

Inspired on Brookin restaurants, this place is a hit!

Burguers are supposed to be the best in town, but I ordered a panini and i´ll never regret! Just amazing!!
We´ll sure go back!!
